Fulshear High School sports are back, and the transition to 6A competition is in full swing. Here’s how every sport currently in season has performed so far…
Charger Volleyball
Our first fall sport that started in the month of August was Charger Volleyball. Volleyball is so important at our school since it’s our highest scoring sport on campus. Varsity hasn’t lost a single game or tournament since the season has started. They were consolation champs 8-1, they won quarterfinals 25-21, and all the school games they’ve played have been won in 3-0 sets. Junior Varsity has won three of their four games in 2-0, and sadly lost 0-2 to Grand Oaks. Unfortunately, Freshman Volleyball have lost three of their four games, but the coaching staff will try to make adjustments as they enter September. On the upside, Coach Zimmerman achieved her career 300th win this month, cementing her as one of the best sports coaches in school history.
Charger Football
It’s been a lighting start for Fulshear Football this month. With both Varsity games resulting in upset victories, “The Dirty F” are looking like early dark horses in the grand scheme of Texas high school football. Everyone in the Houston area has been underestimating this school since making the jump to 6A, but so far, Fulshear has been able to pull out close wins against Pearland and Ridge Point, the latter being possibly the biggest football upset in school history up to this point. With the game televised on Space City Home Network, viewers were able to watch Coach Codutti and Fulshear High School make a remarkable comeback which ended up in a 41-49 win, despite being down early, keeping their perfect record in 6A alive. Fulshear will now pivot and face off against Ford Bend Austin on September 12, which will be the home opener and homecoming game.
Charger Tennis
Charger Tennis has also had a great month with their three matches varsity games have been won. Varsity played Alief Isd, Westside, and Hasting this past month. The matchups came to the score of Alief 19:0, Hasting 19:0, Westside HISD 16:3. Junior Varsity Tennis had a great month, winning their respective matches.
